International audience; Problems of spatial segregation have often stressed on the social status and social capital of a neighbourhood as main driving forces behind housing price formation. In this paper, it is assumed that spatial effects are additional variables worth considering since the impact of urban policies such as social housing policies and urban regeneration policies may permeate outside the areas where they are implemented. The nature of the syllabic neighbourhood effect in French

International audience; We investigated whether and how sublexical units such as phonological syllables mediate access to the lexicon in French visual word recognition. To do so, two lexical decision task (LDT) experiments examined the nature of the syllabic neighbourhood effect. In Experiments 1a and b, the number of higher frequency syllabic neighbours was manipulated while controlling for the first bigram. The results failed to show a pure syllabic neighbourhood effect. This article takes us to Nazaret, an outlying district on Valencia’s waterfront which we consider from three complementary perspectives: the synchronic vision of its current socio-spatial structure, the diachronic and processual contextualization of the changes it has undergone in the last century, and the perceptions and images which characterize the neighbourhood, together with the features, activity and incidence of its associative fabric. An empirical test of neighbourhood effect and safe-site effect in abandoned Mediterranean vineyards

The importance of both neighbourhood effect and safe-site effect for the colonization of Mediterranean old fields by woody plants was investigated. Using a transect approach, we recorded colonization of 21 species of woody plants on abandoned, terraced vineyards on Pantelleria Island (Sicily) in dependence from neighbouring terraces in older succession stages (Maquis) and available safe sites for seedling establishment (former crop plant, terrace wall).
